Today is good news for Indian Cinema as two biopics Drama is Sarbjit And MS Dhoni: The Untold Story have entered the long list of 336 feature films qualified for the Oscars.
The MS Dhoni Biopic ‘The Untold Story’ , talks about the Journey of Captain Cool ie MS Dhoni from his initial days to the World Cup of 2011 at Wankhede stadium where he became a Legend of the game and in doing so becomes the only Captain to win a world cup at home turf.
The film features Randeep Hooda as Sarabjit Singh, an Indian man who was sentenced to death by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1991 and who consequently spent 22 years in prison for alleged terrorism and spying.
As per reports, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has released a list of films which are in contention for the best picture at Oscar.
As per procedure,’ To make it to the 2016 Academy Awards list, feature films must have played in a commercial theater in Los Angeles County between January 1 and December 31 for at least seven consecutive days.’
Indian-American filmmaker Mira Nair’s directorial venture Queen of Katwe, along with Sushant Singh Rajput and Randeep Hooda starrer films are also part of the list.
Mira Nair’s Movie Queen of Katwe talk’s real-life proceedings and records the inspiring story of an underdog from the streets of rural Uganda. The movie stars Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o, David Oyelowo and newcomer Madina Nalwangas.
Others news to include in the race to win the awards are :- La La Land, Moonlight, Manchester by the Sea, Silence, Arrival, and Hacksaw Ridge. Also Superheros’ flicks like Deadpool, Suicide Squad, Captain America: Civil War, and X-Men: Apocalypse also made the cut.
