Vijay Mallya, India’s most famous defaulter, was arrested in London by Scotland Yard on April 18.
Mallya, once a high-flying billionaire who ran the now beleaguered Kingfisher Airlines, was produced before the Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
In the month of March last year embattled businessman Vijay Mallya, who has been arrested in London, fled India after defaulting on loans worth Rs 9,000 crore.
When Mallya took the Jet Airways flight on March 02, he was accompanied by Kingfisher Airlines employee Pinky Lalwani.
As the banks chased the liquor baron to recover the loans and Mallya sought refuge in the UK, she was the woman who stuck by his side during his torrid time.
Also rumored to be the person with whom Mallya had secretly tied the knot, Pinky was a regular attendee of lavish parties and gathering organized by the flamboyant businessman.
Before the sparks allegedly flew between the two, Mallya had employed Pinky as a flight attendant in his now defunct Kingfisher Airlines.
