Former Chennai Super Kings young all-rounder, Pawan Negi, who was present at the opening of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2017 on Sunday, said that it felt like home to be present in MA Chidambaram Stadium, wearing the yellows of CSK.
Negi, who had been an integral part of the CSK line-up over the years, praises the team for providing him with a platform, where he progressed as a cricketer. The all-rounder made his T20I debut against UAE in the Asia Cup in Bangladesh, but he could not get any further opportunities to represent his country.
According to the interview with TNCA, Negi said, “It feels great to be back here because I feel at home here. Our team has always been like a family and that is the feeling I get every time I come here. It was a great experience for me and I learnt a lot about cricket during my time with CSK both on and off the field. The experience helped me as a cricketer and CSK provided me with the platform, standing on which I progressed as a cricketer.”
While recalling his initial days in CSK, Negi reveals that he was nervous as there were some big players like Brendon McCullum, Faf du Plessis and MS Dhoni, who all played at the international level.
The all-rounder concluded, “When I played for CSK, I was the only uncapped player. All others had represented their teams at the international level. Some, like Brendon McCullum, Faf du Plessis and obviously MS Dhoni, were skippers of their respective national tests. I did feel nervous in the beginning. But I was at ease and that helped me open up. I had a lot of fun playing for CSK.”
