Mukti Mohan is happy with the positive response her role in the web series Inmates has received. The dancer talks about taking up acting and why she connected with the series. She is back with yet another series Inmates. Set in the Maximum City, the show is about five friends – Kay (Mukti Mohan), Rahul (Raghav Kakkar), Fooga (Kashyap Kapoor), Madhav (Ashish Verma) and Richa (Akansha Thakur) with starkly different personalities and what happens when they come under the same roof.

In an exclusive chat with a leading daily Mukti Mohan, who plays a DJ in TVF Inmates opened up about her role in her debut web series.

What was your first reaction when you were approached to play lesbian on the screen?
Honestly, my first reaction was like I don’t fit for this character at all. My character Kay is a lesbian and a feminist and so initially I was in a doubt whether I will be able to do justice or not. But seems like, the director saw something in me and convinced me to give a try. I followed my gut feeling and I am so happy I did that. This is one of the best experiences so far in my career.
The thing which made me say yes was not the medium but the story. If the story is honest and there is not too much of a hoo-ha about the star cast and budget, which layers up and makes the vision blur that you can’t understand what the story is.

Future projects-

I will be starting to work on a film by this December or January next year. There are two series, which will be shot in November.  I am preparing for that as both of them are completely different from Kay and from each other. And, I am totally kicked about it.
