The Congress Spokeperson said on wednesday that if there are any scenes in ‘Padmavati‘ which hurt the sentiments of a community, they need to be reviewed, amid protests against the movie. R P N Singh said though he has not seen the film, it is up to the censor board to clear the movie.
I have not watched the movie as yet, but definitely the Central Board of Film Certification formulated and formed by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government has seen it and passed it without cuts.
“But any movie that hurts the sentiments of any community… a film is not made to hurt any community,” said Congress Spoke person R P N Singh.
R P N Singh, in a statement, said, “The glorious history of Rajputs has been distorted in the film and the community shown in bad light. Any such attempt to tarnish the image of Rajputs and insult them will not be tolerated and the protests against the film across the country can take the shape of an ‘Andolan’ (agitation). The Mahasabha urged the government of India to impose a ban on release of the film.”
Padmavati features Deepika Padukone in the title role while Shahid Kapoor plays her husband Maharawal Ratan Singh. Ranveer Singh features as Alauddin Khilji. Padmavati is slated to release on Dec 1. But Rajput Karni Sena on Wednesday called for a ‘Bharat Bandh’ on December 1, if Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie “Padmavati” releases on that date.
