Shah Rukh Khan promises to be fluent in Bengali in next year at Kolkata International Film Festival!

Shah Rukh Khan owns an Indian Premier League Team Kolkata Knight Riders and has a special connection with the city. The Bollywood actor has described the Kolkata as his city and also quoting saying that his “dadagiri” rules the stay in the eastern metropolis. He has further added that “As always, whenever I come here, from Mumbai, bringing my people, artists, friends, I feel proud. I feel Kolkata is my city.”

King Khan attended the 23rd Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) in Kolkata. During the interaction with the media promised fans that he will be sporting a traditional Bengali ‘dhoti’ and promised to be fluent in the regional language for the next edition.

The Raees actor was quoted saying that, “I have promised that I will keep on learning Bangla. My Bengali has to get better. This is my new attempt with eight lines. Please bear with me. Let me get this right because by next year I have to do it without reading it off a paper,”

During the speech, Shah Rukh Khan was quoted saying that, Ei film festival er bishesh onusthane uposthith thakte pere sammanito bodh korchi. (I feel honoured to be present at this special event). Sanskriti ebong oitihjjyor ei shohor (Kolkata is the city of culture). Shob cheye Mishti Shohor Kolkata (It is the sweetest city).”

The actor who is Bengal’s brand ambassador was quoted saying that, “Next time I am going to ask my friends to give me a dhoti also… Come and speak in full Bengali… fluent also and be here,”

The event was organized by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and added that, “We will give a dhoti-panjabi to Shah Rukh. He has asked us,”
