Shraddha Kapoor is on a roll this year. Saaho, Saina Nehwal Biopic, Batti Gul Meter Chalu and now, Stree! The actress has just announced the title of her horror comedy with Rajkummar Rao and we are already looking forward to see what the duo have in store for us. From the title, we know that the film is going to be women-centric. However, it is a horror comedy and we just hope that it doesn’t turn out to make fun of women and show them in a stereotypical, misogynist light.

The two actors announced that they are coming together for a horror comedy just a few days ago and revealed the title today. It is also the day when they shot the mahurat scene of their upcoming film, directed by Amar Kaushik (Ghanchakkar and Aamir fame). The film is produced by Dinesh Vijan and written by Raj & DK. With the team backing the project, we are sure it is going to be an edge of the seat drama.

The genre – horror comedy – is interesting and yet not something which is widely explored in Bollywood. Go Goa Gone and more recently Golmaal Returns were runaway hits and the popularity will ensure bums on the seats in theatres. Add to this the fresh new pairing of Shraddha and Rajkummar Rao, Stree has a lot going for it. After a dismal 2017, the year 2018 is turning out to be very very interesting as far as Bollywood movies go. Let’s hope we aren’t disappointed at the theatres.
