Actor Diljit Dosanjh made his Bollywood debut with Udta Punjab in 2016 for which he earned the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He also acts in Punjabi movies, with many of them being noticeable hits, including the 2012 film Jatt & Juliet, the 2013 films Jatt & Juliet 2 and “Punjab 1984”, the 2015 film Sardaar Ji, and the 2016 films Ambarsariya , Sardaar Ji 2 and the 2017 Punjabi Film Super Singh.
Now he will be seen with filmmaker Karan Johar, Sonakshi Sinha, Boman Irani and Riteish Deshmukh, among many others, in “Welcome To New York”. Dijit is a new comer in bollywood industry When asked if he feels overshadowed working in multi-starrer films, Diljit Dosanjh said, “No. When you are working with big stars, the new artiste feels really safe.”
He added, “I am new in the industry…How can someone overshadow me?” Diljit further said, “Maybe tomorrow, when I become something (big), maybe I would think like that” .”Welcome To New York” is a comedy film, where Diljit will be seen playing a struggling artist who dreams of becoming an actor.
On the work front, his next film Soorma — which will release after Welcome To New York hits the screens on February 23 — is based on hockey player Sandeep Singh. Diljit says starring in a biopic is a huge responsibility. “Every actor wants to do a biopic and I am lucky that in my second year I got an offer to do one. I have tried giving my 100 per cent. As an actor, I have given as much as I could,” he added.
