Amitabh Bachchan, brand ambassador of Beti Bachao campaign, expresses disgust at Unnao, Kathua rape cases!

Kathua case has taken the internet by storm and shaken the nation to question is female safe in our country. The Kathua rape case discusses to the abduction, rape, and murder of an 8-year-old girl, Asifa Bano, of Jammu and Kashmir in January 2018.

The lastest celebrity to condemn the Kathua case is none other than Amitabh Bahchcan. He was quoted saying that feels “disgusted” by it. Durin a recent interaction with the media was asked to share his feeling, who is also the face of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign and was quoted saying that “it was painful to even talk about it.”

“Mujhe uss vishay par charcha karne mein ghin aati hai. So uss vishay ko uchhalo mat. It’s terrible to even talk about it. (I feel disgusted even talking about it. So, don’t rake up this issue. It is terrible to even talk about it.”

Iconic actor recently interacted with the media, at the song launch of his upcoming movie “102 Not Out”, in which he will be seen sharing screen space with Rishi Kapoor. Celebrities and public have reacted furiously over the incidents and have demanded justice for the victims of the Kathua, Unnao and Surat rape cases which has generated a enormous barbarity against the offenders.

Post the awareness of this brutal act many celebrities such as Sonam Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, Vishal Dadlani, Swara Bhaskar, Kiran Rao, Huma Qureshi and Kareena Kappor Khan too social to express thei anger and was seen holding a placard that sought for justice to Asifa. The words on the placards say, “I am Hindustan. I am Ashamed.”

While promoting her upcoming movie, Alia Bhat spoke on the occasion and was quoted saying that, “It is a very disgraceful, shameful and terrible incident that has happened. As a girl, as a woman, as an individual, as a resident of this country, I feel very bad and hurt that something like this has happened.”

Veteran actress Shabana Azmi said: “Our country is living in multiple centuries at one time. We are living in the 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st centuries at a time, and this we are experiencing in the way we treat women of this country.”

She further added “Our women have achieved great heights in their respective careers and have become leaders. But on the other hand, we read and watch such news that I don’t have words to express (my emotions). We should all unite and ensure these kinds of incidents don’t happen. We always say ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, and we should work towards that. But for that, firstly, our betis (daughters) should be alive.”

Farhan Akhtar was one of the first celebrity to speak on this heinous incident was was quoted saying that, ”Imagine what goes through the mind of an 8 yr old as she is drugged, held captive, gang raped over days and then murdered. If you don’t feel her terror, you are not human. If you don’t demand justice, you belong to nothing, Farhan tweeted.

The incident has sparked huge, nation-wide outrage among people.
