If we talk about Indian Box office, SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali 2 failed to create its magic at the Chinese box office. The action adventure war drama raked in Rs 52.12 crore in its opening weekend, which is very less compare to earlier Hindi films released in the market. Whereas, it has turned out to be the fifth highest opening weekend Indian grosser in China after Secret Superstar, Hindi Medium, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Dangal. Looking at the lukewarm response towards the film, it seems the film will not have a long run in the Chinese market.
Since Avengers: Infinity War is arriving this Friday in China, Baahubali 2 will face a huge screen crunch as well as a huge chunk of audience at the box office. With the help of Chinese collections, the film currently stands with the grand total of 1768 crore at the global box office and is the second highest Indian worldwide grosser after Aamir Khan’s Dangal. Featuring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj and Nassar in pivotal roles, the second installment in one of the most expensive films of the Indian cinema.
According to sources,” the film earlier received a great response in the Japanese market and celebrated its 100 run-theatrical run at the box office. Baahubali 2 which is released in over 7000 screens in China had collected Rs 511 crore (Hindi) during its theatrical run making it the biggest blockbuster of all time. Apart from ruling the box office, the film also garnered many accolades including 2 National Awards. The film now needs to remain rock-steady in the weekdays to stand with a respectable total at the ticket windows”.
