Public Holidays have for eternity attracted the masses to the ticket windows and filmmakers crave to get their films released on ‘em. Releasing a film on Independence and Republic days has always proved bankable for Bollywood. Doesn’t matter if the film is a patriotic one or not, Independence Day and Republic Day have had a great impact on the box-office collections of the films released on and around them.

Trade Analyst Girish Johar says, “Holidays definitely benefits films. They give a boost to the performance of the film in the initial days. It is only after a day or two that reviews and the word of mouth start to influence the audience’s decision to watch a film or not.”
