Manoj Bajpayee won the best actor award at the recently concluded New York Indian Film Festival for his performance in the Hindi psychological drama, Gali Guleiyan (In the Shadows) . Acknowledging all the praise and good wishes coming to him, Manoj took to Twitter and said, “Gets an honour at @nyindianff congratulations to the team of@GaliGuleiyan and the captain @dipeshjainfilm “

He said, “It is a very different award. The jury consisted of 90-95 percent of Australian industry and people who’ve worked in Hollywood. So, it’s a great feeling that you are judged the best by the people who have no biases.” Two-time National Award winner Manoj Bajpayee’s another film Love Sonia opened the festival in Australia and received a lot of praise too. In an exclusive chat with a leading daily, the actor said, “It’s quite humbling, and you feel great that you are choosing the right scripts.”

When asked Which performance of yours is your most favourite and why?

He said- “Mr Raj Kapoor was once asked which one film was closest to him, he said that all his films were his children. To say one film is better than the other would be doing complete injustice to the all other films and roles where I have given my blood, sweat and tears. However, I iterate that this is the most complex character that I have done.”

Shot entirely on locations, the film is directed by Los Angeles-based debutant filmmaker and winner of Director Guild of America Award, Dipesh Jain.

Gali Guleiyan will soon release in India.
